Technical description of construction in the RBS system
Foundations
Foundations of the building in the RBS system do not differ much from foundations in traditional building. They have only some additional reinforcement bars (so called starters) that project from foundation walls being spaced from 33 through 100 cm (depending on the construction type) that serve to join the RBS walls and foundations. Due to a great performance precision of the RBS elements, foundations must be made precisely, as well, in vertical and horizontal directions.
Outside and inside walls
Outside and inside walls in the RBS technology are made of four basic kinds of profiles manufactured of high impact resistant PVC. Walls are assembled by sliding in panels and connectors alternately. Special channels can be inserted in connectors to run electric cables. During assembly of wall elements, reinforcement bars must be inserted in placed indicated in the design. Such assembled walls are filled with concrete
Depending on the kind of structure of the house, walls be 100, 150, and 200 mm thick. A wall 200 mm thick may have thermal insulation made of polyurethane foam 54 mm thick. Walls 100 and 150 mm thick must have thermal insulation applied in accordance with technical standards and regulations
Outside walls of the building are formed by connected RBS panels filled with concrete, a layer of thermal insulation (foamed polystyrene or mineral wool) and the facade. Outside walls made in the RBS system allow to use all finish materials available in the market, similarly to the traditional technology. Among those used the most commonly are:
- siding
- plasters
- tiles, façade stone, etc.
Inside walls form a good sound insulation and a base to apply various finish materials like:
- paper - gypsum panels
- normal and glass fibre wallpapers
- plasters, paints, and sprayed wallpaper (especially recommended)
In production, storage, and social rooms and in background rooms in residential houses (laundry, garage, cellar) walls may be left without any special finish which is not only an economically justified, but practical solution.
Doors and windows
The RBS technology features an easy assembly of doors and windows. The RBS system composes of profiles being ready window and door frames that are mounted before concrete has been applied. They are reinforced inside by means of cold bent steel sheet profiles.
Door leaves can be simply attached to such prepared frames, and special windows adopted to the RBS system are inserted in finished window openings.
The RBS system allows also to install other kinds of windows and doors available in the market.
Ceiling
The ceiling in the RBS system made be of any kind (wooden, reinforced concrete, monolithic, prefabricated, concrete with steel bars, etc.) depending on design solutions and requirements the building must comply with. From the bottom, the ceiling may be finished by means of paper-gypsum panels of adequate fire class.
Roof with roofing and roof work
The RBS system allows to use any kind of roof structure, both rafter and lattice structures made of wooden or steel components, and the roof may be finished depending on needs of a given investor.
Media
Sanitary systems are run below the floor or in special channels that are finished with paper-gypsum panels.
Electric cables are run in special channels inserted in walls.
